  • SAKURA KIMONO 100%SILK 3way LONG GOWN Tie-dyeing Orange M ¥200,000

    Japan traditional crafts tie-dyeing

This is a valuable collection of kimonos made by a traditional Japanese technique called “tie-dyeing.

Tie-dyeing is one of the dyeing techniques in which a pattern is created by binding the cloth with threads and boards to create areas where the color cannot be dyed.

One craftsman does all the work for each kimono by hand.

The dyes do not penetrate into the areas where the cloth is tied down with thread, so these areas rise to the surface in white, creating a pattern with a three-dimensional effect.

The kimono shown here is partially shibori-dyed, but it is said that more than 200,000 shibori are applied to each kimono if it is a total shibori kimono, which takes more than one year to produce.

The production time is more than a year. Therefore, the number of production is very small, and it has become a luxury item because of its increasing scarcity value.

Why don’t you experience the ultimate touch of traditional beauty?
